Headquartered in Irvine, California, the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) that serves approximately 1.8 million residents in a 575-square mile area, with 172,000 acres of wildland.

The Fleet Services Manager position has comprehensive responsibility to manage the Fleet Services Division, which has a total budget of $3.9 million and a staff of 23 in the two divisions of: 1) Heavy Repair & Field Service, and 2) Preventative Maintenance, Tires & Light Vehicle Repair. The Fleet Services Division is responsible for scheduling preventive maintenance and supplying 598 vehicles as well as ensuring their safety. The Fleet Services Manager and his/her staff will work closely with other divisions to coordinate these efforts. As such, the Manager will be knowledgeable of modern facilities and systems, contract administration, and will have experience working with diverse fleets.

The most desirable candidates for this position will be knowledgeable of diesel and gasoline vehicles with a GVW in excess of 15 tons as well as hydraulic and water pumping systems. An understanding of principles, practices, and techniques of fleet maintenance servicing, repair, and maintenance is required. The desired candidates are familiar with state and local safety codes and regulations as well as vehicle assessment and valuation practices. Computer literacy with word processing, database, records management, and spreadsheet software applications is also important.

The equivalent of a bachelors degree in business, public administration or a related field, or technical certification, training, and education in fleet maintenance practices and automotive technology is required. Eight years of progressively responsible automotive and equipment repair experience, including three years of supervisory experience is required.
