Responsibilities: The Public Works Director (full-time) will plan, direct and administer the administrative and technical operations of the Citys Public Works Department which include the divisions of solid waste collection and Restricted Use Site operations; water and wastewater conveyance, collection, and treatment; storm water management; motor pool; street maintenance; snow removal; hydroelectric; governmental facilities and grounds; and administrative support.
Requirements and preferred experience: Professional Engineering (P.E.) License in civil engineering required. Bachelors Degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university required along with ten years progressively responsible experience in private or public engineering OR a masters degree in civil engineering, public administration or related field and five years directly related experience in private or public engineering or any such combination of education/experience as may be acceptable to the hiring authority. Possession of a valid drivers license and clean driving history required. Residency required within a distance from the City of Spearfish adequate to meet a thirty-minute response time.
