Under the general direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor, the Director, Educator Preparation and Public School Programs will work primarily within the office of Educator Preparation and Public School Programs and Academic and Student Affairs in order to facilitate program development and to increase campus-based capacity to serve students. Duties include: overseeing and directing educator preparation programs and projects across the CSU, acquiring external resources for CSU Educator Preparation Programs, analyzing legislation, directing selected projects, providing leadership and assistance to deans of education as they expand the preparation of teachers, attending and facilitating meetings and addressing needs of CSU Liberal Studies programs, explaining and interpreting decisions that have system implications for professional preparation programs, preparing memorandums and reports as necessary, and acting as liaison to various intersegmental agency activities in Educator Preparation. In addition to the above, the Director will carry out other assignments at the request of Academic and Student Affairs and the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Educator Preparation and Public School Programs.

This position requires:
-Ph.D. or Ed.D. from an accredited university and seven years of administrative experience required.
-Extensive educational leadership and experience in working with groups having divergent points of view.
-Knowledge of PK-12 education and education reform.
-Ability to analyze documents and prepare written position papers.
-Excellent organizational skills and ability to independently handle a number of tasks.
-High level of personal interaction skills.

The Chancellor's Office policy requires that the selected candidate successfully complete a full background check (including a criminal records check) prior to assuming this position.
